"This day, I will marry my best friend. The one who shares my dreams, live and love."

14 June 2008

The day was absolutely beautiful and dearly blessed by GOD. Everything happened blissfully smooth and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out (albeit a few memorable boo-boos of Luke slipping the wedding band on my wrong finger, and me causing to "jam" his ring on the wrong hand). Both Luke and I did not get any sleep the night before, but that certainly did not stop us from enjoying ourselves to the fullest.

CHURCH SERVICE - The floral and balloon decorations were gorgeous and received compliments. The page boys and flowers girls were all on PERFECT behaviour - no last minute tantrums or sudden shyness, and did the Bridal march-in without any hiccups. As the doors opened and Canon in D was being played on the organ, I forgot completely about my worry of tripping on my heels. Instead I was pleasantly astonished by the guests turnout (they were filled right to the back) and was in such awe that the once long aisle suddenly seemed just right. Luke was all smiles as mum handed me over to him. Some noticed his loving gestures as he swept the leaves and petals off my veil and gown before helping me with the gown as I sat down for the church service.
The service was utterly enjoyable (we received plenty of good feedback during the lunch reception), and so was buffet lunch. We were also later told that some guests teared during the bridal march-in :D Most ladies gave the thumbs up and praises for the fully laced (mermaid-cut) bridal gown, as well as the hair & makeup that accompanied it. Kudos to Silhouette & JH for their works of beauty!

DINNER at RAFFLES HOTEL - Our guests arrived punctually for the cocktail session and totally immersed themselves with the 3-piece instrumental jazz band that was entertaining them amidst the socializing and the clanking of glasses. I managed to sneak a few moments in my tea dress to greet the guests before one of my bridesmaids followed me closely and kept reminding me about changing to my gown. I was having such great fun! And till this day, some still tell me that they could sense how carefree and stress-free I was! I did think I'd worry a lot initially, putting a lot on my shoulders, but BR did a PERFECT job of running the show - even letting Luke get more rest instead of meeting the banquet manager - so kudos to her!
There were plenty of highlights for the evening - the 3 touching speeches shedding different perspective in their own humour given by my 2 cousins: Cheryl-Anne & Samantha, and by Luke's eldest sis: Helen. A very heart-felt speech of gratitude from Luke - which caused him to tear and choke on his tears - and got many others tearing as well. A spontaneous move by the emcees, JP & Choon Yee to get the "coughing" groom to sing a song to me, as well as the express video highlight of the morning that was shown to the guests. Though we didn't get to watch it till days later; guests mentioned how much they loved the artistic and "Wong-Kai-War styled" video! [p/s: got into tears too when we later watch it]

Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the brothers and sisters, bridesmaids, friends and relatives for going all out to help out in whatever way possible.

God bless everyone!
